Bead & Cove Gauges

A precision-made 3D printed tool designed to help turners practice and perfect dimensionally accurate beads and coves. Inspired by the simplicity of a radius gauge but tailored for woodturning, this versatile tool combines multiple functions in one compact design.

The perfect guide to help learn how to cut beads and coves by hand. Unlike some tools, these won't do the cutting for you - but they will help you visualise how the shape of the wood needs to be changed.

  • Dual-ended design: One end fits neatly against beads, the other pushes into coves for accurate shaping.
  • Notched  layout ruler: Allows a pencil to mark diameters and midpoints, for multiple beads quickly and consistently.
  • Cut off tips: Allow for gauging of adjacent, or recessed beads.

Note: some gauges may appear mottled or discoloured but this does not impact their function.

Do not Use on Moving Lathe
Daily Cleaning

Friction from moving wood on the lathe will heat up the PLA plastic and cause it to deform or wear.

Avoid High Heat

Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources, such as radiators, or hot cars. PLA softens around 60 °C.

Avoid Direct Sunlight

UV from sunlight can weaken PLA over time.

Keep Dry

Prolonged moisture can weaken PLA over time.
